All members were present, except for VP, Helen Rivas-Rose and Club Manager, Glen Okui. A quorum was achieved. Ian Irving, Board president emeritus and de facto Unit 254 “Consigliere”, attended the meeting in an advisory capacity. Bravo to Sandy who despite being away, laid up in bed with health issues, participated via Zoom !
The relocation of TBS to the new location was discussed. It was decided that needed improvements to the new venue should proceed as planned. The major concern being that the venue lease term length should be in excess of 1 year, given the costs of the quality venue improvements that will be be made by Unit 254. Mary Seggerman will try, yet again, to force that issue with the new venue point of contact. To allow sufficient time for the TBS relocation, TBS rent will be paid for April and May 2024.
Treasurer Mary Seggerman advised that the 2nd priority after the TBS relocation should be exploring alternative ways to more effectively manage Unit 254 monies.
ACBL designates a share of April bridge game revenues to be available for our Unit to pass on to our local charity. Feed the Hungary charity was recommended.
The Partnership chair is vacant. Please all, help find a partnership chair person. Louie will canvass potential candidates at Bordello Bridge tomorrow.
Beth Rosener’s request to be United 254 Secretary was tabled for the time being. The secretary position is adequately handled by President Louie, who desires to hold both positions, for the time being.
Members shared their dates for being away from SMA, which I hope to send to board members at a later date.
End of month members get together at La Frontera will be 24 April 2024, after normal TBS bridge play.
The next Unit 254 board members meeting is TBD.
