December 16, 2024 board meeting

All members were present except for David McDougall, out of town, a quorum achieved.

Unit funds took a slight dip due to recent hospitality outlays.  However, a healthy balance of funds is still on hand.

NGO status still awaits Notario final sign off.  It appears it may not occur till 2025.

The Last Thursday game had only 2 tables in play.  Additional advertisement announcements of Thursday games, now available, will be made on other bridge play days.  A special game format will be played on Thursday, 9 January 2025.

Table side caddies have been reduced from 40 to 13 due to broken parts.  Mary Seggerman volunteered to research replaements.  Mary has since informed the board that she has located replacements !  Mary’s new nick name – “Lickety Split”.

Discussions of upcoming 2025 bridge tournaments produced the following:

     1.  SMA Sectional 27-29 Mar,  Thurs & Sat-TBS.  Fri-Bordello Club

     2.  Mexican Regional 25 Feb-2 Mar, Hotel Real de Minas

     3.  Ajijic Sectional 6-9 Feb  Ian Irving securing transportation to/from

Unit 173 (Mex City) in charge of the Regional, will be loaned tables, table cloths and sets of boards.  Unit 173 to handle pick up/return of said items.  Additionally, our Unit will seek to provide a Partnership Chair for the Regional.  A virtual meeting between Units 173 & 254 is planned for the 1st week in February for further Regional discussions.

Since team games, Swiss games are involved with Tournaments, we need to include such games during future play dates to promote familiarity with such play.  It was also emphasized that securing our Sectional sanctioning by Ian, is needed ASAP!

Lynn Chambers, Hospitality Chair relates 18 December members’ Xmas Party is on track.

Post meeting, a poll conducted with members playing revealed limited interest in a Christmas Day game.
