The Board of Directors of Unit 254/The Bridge Studio (TBS) of San Miguel met at 11:30 a.m. on January 7, 2026. In attendance were Louis Roman, Sandy Martin, Lynn Chambers, Glen Okui, and Jan Brosnahan with David McDougall also available for consultation nearby. Additional input had been previously provided by Mary Seggerman. Absent were Natalia Zapata and Ian Irving.
Louis Roman, President, presided over the meeting and the following topics were discussed:
Financials – Natalia was not available for the meeting so the financials were not reviewed. They will be sent to the Board in the near future for review.
Bidding boxes and Bridgemates – A request for purchase of additional bidding boxes and Bridgemates has been made by the Bordello Bridge group. After taking inventory of the number of boxes and Bridgemates that TBS already owns, and what the typical needs are, we believe we have enough to loan some of the excess we have to the Bordello Bridge group for their use, rather than having either group have to make a cash outlay at this time. The boxes and Bridgemates will be labeled as TBS property and loaned accordingly.
Christmas party – a brief discussion of the December 17th party indicated that about 50 attended, a good time was had by all, and plenty of volunteers assisted with cleanup afterwards.
Current lease – our lease is believed to be up for renewal at the end of March. Sandy will talk to Mariana to find out the intentions regarding increased rent, etc. and get back to the Board for next steps.
Bridge lessons – have started back up and seem to be going well. Intermediate lessons are being taught at the Bridge Studio on Mondays by Layne Benben and beginner lessons are being taught at the Bridge Studio on Wednesdays by David McDougall. A charge of 50 pesos per lesson are being assessed per lesson per student and the lessons begin at 11:00 a.m.
Regional Tournament – Glen Okui recently met with Jorge, Sandra and Frida of Unit 173 regarding the upcoming Regional Tournament which will be held in San Miguel March 17 – 22 at the Hotel MX (next to the MAC Hospital) . A few notes from Glen’s meeting: we are not allowed to bring in our own food and/or catering and Jorge has requested some assistance with the hospitality table at the tournament. Glen will continue to keep Mary Seggerman in the loop on all communications and arrangements.
Sectional Tournament – is scheduled for February 12 – 14 at The Bridge Studio (Thursday and Saturday) and at the Bordello (Friday). Glen Okui is the Director of this Tournament. The tournament will be free for those with 0 to 20 Masterpoints. Friday’s game will be split into two sections, an Open division and a 0 to 499 section. Saturday’s games will be a Swiss Teams format, and we will work to get sign-ups in advance best we can to facilitate plans for lunch to be brought in.
Monthly Dinner – will be scheduled for Wednesday, January 28th at LaFrontera. Lynn Chambers won’t be here for the dinner but will still be able to assist with arrangements for the dinner for everyone. Those interested should contact Lynn Chambers @

Annual General Meeting – is scheduled for Wednesday, February 25th, at 4:30 p.m., at The Bridge Studio, followed by dinner at LaFrontera for those interested in going out for dinner.
