NGO status continues to die on the vine, and will be revisited at the next board meeting.
Snacks at TBS will be gradually reintroduced. An initial start to include Maria’s snack cookies and mints. Alternative snack delivery options need to be explored. Past Amazon shipments have effected the freshness/quality of some snacks.
A discussion was held regarding the pros & cons of players signing up for Unit 254 affiliation. David volunteered to do research and report back at the next board meeting.
The upcoming Day of the Dead falls on Saturday, November 1st. A regular TBS Saturday game will be held. Pending final coordination/approval from Lynn, Hospitality Chair, the following was decided:
A commemorative Altar with photos of past members will be done.
Players, at play start, to provide a Pot Luck food option for attendees
Advertizing and Coordination with Bordello Club will be done.
End of October month get together will be this DoD, 1 November event.
David, upon 29 October return, has volunteered to hold beginner lessons in response to requests for such. Details to follow.
The SMA 2026 Sectional will switch from 5-7 February to 12-14 February. Mary, Tournament Coordinator, to seek final coordination with ACBL and with Friday, 13 February, Bordello play, involving Barbee Poole (venue owner) and with Dan Sondgeroth, Bordello Bridge Club Manager. 12 & 14 February play is at TBS.
A 2026 SMA Sectional flyer will be produced soonest to help advertize/ promote the event.
Mary, Tournament Coordinator, expressed frustration communicating with Unit 173 (Mex City) regarding preperations for the 2026, 17-22 March, Regional Tournament traditionally held here in SMA. They’re not responding. Mary to continue trying as well as to investigate alternative venues besides Hotel Real de Minas ( last year’s venue). Additionally Ian Irving has suggested avoiding Wkend play to avoid higher wkend rental rates. Ian has also sought out alternative venues.
The required 2026 Annual General Meeting of members will be held on Wednesday, 25 February 2026, post regular game play. That is an end of month get together date as well. Plans to incorporate both events are under review.
